The other week I was tired of feeling serious. **yuck, adulting**
So I turned on Shrek two. I don’t know what in the world wanted me to watch that film so badly but it truly warmed my home.
As soon as I turned it on, my husband came out of his man cave, my toddler calmed down a bit, excited to have some tv. (We’ve been on a media detox).
Anyway, what I realized was this: just like discomfort, comfort has its place, too.
COMFORT SHOWS US WHY WE WORK HARD
We work hard so that we can enjoy things, right? We want material things, more time to do things we love, and everything in between. This is why we work hard. And I know, hustler mentality is addicting. But what comes up, must come down, people. Sometimes it is beneficial to slow down and enjoy the things we do have. Enjoying some of life’s comforts can show us why we work hard to begin with.
COMFORT CONNECTS US WITH OTHERS
There is a reason comfort foods are often served during the holidays when you want to bring folks together in harmony. Comfort is sweet, and while too much of it may lead to glutton and unfavorable results, it has its beauty.
COMFORT JUST FEELS DAMN GOOD
Sometimes you just need to decompress, right! Goals and desires will ALWAYS be there for us. But what good will they be if we are miserable?
How do you balance the never ending cycle of comfort v discomfort in your life? Let’s chat!
